Diploma in Startup Innovation – Level 4
Course Overview
The Level 4 Diploma in Startup Innovation offered by ACQ-London introduces learners to the essential knowledge and skills required to create, develop, and manage innovative start-up ventures. This qualification focuses on opportunity recognition, design thinking, lean start-up methodologies, business model development, and innovation in products and services.
The programme blends entrepreneurial theory with practical application through projects, simulations, and case studies, enabling learners to explore how innovative ideas can be transformed into viable businesses. By the end of the course, graduates will be able to design business models, develop start-up plans, and understand the dynamics of launching a new venture.
This qualification consists of six mandatory units designed to introduce learners to innovation and entrepreneurship in start-ups:
- Introduction to Startup Innovation – Understanding the start-up ecosystem and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Opportunity Identification and Idea Generation – Recognising and shaping innovative business opportunities.
- Design Thinking for Entrepreneurs – Applying creative problem-solving to business development.
- Lean Start-up Principles – Building and testing business ideas using lean methodologies.
- Business Model Development – Creating, evaluating, and refining business models.
- Professional and Ethical Practice in Entrepreneurship – Ethics, sustainability, and responsible business innovation.
Applicants must be aged 18 years or above and meet at least one of the following:
- A relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Two subjects at GCE Advanced Level or equivalent secondary education.
- Mature learners aged 21 years or above with relevant professional or entrepreneurial experience (subject to approval by ACQ-London).
- Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency. ACQ-London offers a complimentary three-month English language support programme for those without a recognised English qualification.
The programme is designed to be completed within one academic year for full-time learners. Flexible pathways are available for part-time and distance learners.
The Level 4 Diploma in Startup Innovation is delivered through:
- LMS-based online learning with live sessions led by entrepreneurs and innovation specialists.
- Virtual workshops, start-up simulations, and applied projects.
- Independent study supported by ACQ-London’s eLearning resources.
Assessment is coursework-based, internally marked and externally verified. Learners must demonstrate achievement of outcomes through:
- Start-up idea generation projects
- Business model design and presentations
- Case study evaluations
- Reflective journals and innovation portfolios
Graduates of this qualification can progress to:
- Level 5 Diploma in Startup Innovation or related entrepreneurship qualifications.
- Year 2 of a UK Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, or Business (subject to university requirements).
- Entry-level roles such as start-up assistant, innovation coordinator, or junior business developer.
On successful completion, learners will receive the ACQ-London Level 4 Diploma in Startup Innovation, a qualification recognised in the UK and internationally for its academic quality and professional relevance.
